Thinking of Marriage? Opt for Legal Registration or Follow Traditional Ways? | ALUXE Diamond

What is the Meaning of Marriage? The answer varies from person to person. Regardless of the answer, being able to walk down the aisle with the one you love and share your lives together is a precious and valuable happiness. Today, ALUXE will share five different ways to get married. You can choose the one that suits you best based on their advantages and disadvantages.

Marriage Option 1: Traditional Customary Wedding

The traditional customary wedding is divided into two parts: engagement and marriage. In the engagement process, the groom must first prepare six or twelve gifts and present them to the bride's family. The key points of the engagement ceremony include arranging the betrothal gifts, tea ceremony, sitting in tall chairs, exchanging rings, presenting gifts, the bride's return gift, and hosting a banquet. All these must be completed before 11 a.m.

The marriage process includes the groom's departure for the bride's house, the groom presenting the bouquet, the bride bidding farewell to her parents, covering her head with a veil, throwing a fan while riding in the bridal car, entering the room, eating tangyuan, exploring the room, and serving tea. Although these customs may seem intricate, according to married netizens, the preparation process, despite being laborious, creates priceless memories. Moreover, it provides an opportunity for both families to practice communication and harmony.

Pros: The process is unforgettable, budget control is manageable, and it is grand and prestigious, creating a true sense of "marriage."

Cons: The preparation process is intricate, time-consuming, and requires communication and confirmation with both families.

Marriage Option 2: Same-Day Engagement and Marriage

Differing from the traditional practice of separating engagement and marriage ceremonies on different days, modern couples sometimes opt to combine both processes on the same day. This decision is often influenced by busy lifestyles or the considerable distance between the families. To save time and avoid travel fatigue, some couples choose to merge the engagement and marriage ceremonies, aiming to complete the entire process before 11 a.m. for auspiciousness.

Pros: Experience traditional engagement and marriage customs in a more time-efficient manner.

Cons: Due to time constraints, an early start is required, leading to time pressure.

Marriage Option 3: Civil Marriage

Skipping the intricate traditional rituals while maintaining the solemnity of the ceremony, civil marriage allows couples to prepare documents like ID cards, seals, a notarized request, and marriage notarization in advance. With an appointment made at the notary office three days in advance, you can get married in court even on holidays.

Pros: Maintains a sense of marriage ceremony, cost-effective, quick, and convenient.

Cons: The atmosphere may be less lively compared to traditional weddings unless attended by family and friends.

Marriage Option 4: Registry Marriage

The quickest and most economical way to get married is through registry marriage!

Items Required for Registry Marriage

1. Marriage contract: Include names, birthdates, national ID numbers, addresses of both parties, and the signatures or seals of at least two witnesses.

2. For underage individuals, an additional consent form from the legal guardian is needed.

3. On-site submission of ID cards, seals or signatures, a recent color photo of both parties, and the original household registration.

If you register for marriage before 4 p.m., you can receive your spouse's occupied ID card on the same day.

Marriage Option 5: Overseas/Island Wedding

For those dreaming of a romantic wedding, wearing a beautiful gown, capturing intimate moments, and receiving blessings from close friends and family, an overseas/island wedding is the perfect choice! Whether taking pre-wedding photos, enjoying a honeymoon, or having a simple yet grand ceremony, the cost is approximately around NT$200,000. In terms of cost-effectiveness, overseas/island weddings offer great value compared to traditional weddings.

Pros: Efficient, simple ceremony, envy from friends and family, maintaining face for parents.

Cons: Difficult to manage all wedding details, limited venue capacity, and not all friends and family can attend
